Warren Bishop has become Mpumalanga Black Aces’ fourth defensive signing and the ninth overall during the January transfer window.
The former University of Pretoria captain signed with the Witbank-based outfit until the end of the season a day after parting ways with AmaZulu.

Bishop has now relocated to Johannesburg and tells Kickoff.com that he parted ways with Usuthu as he was not in their plans and since he wanted more game-time.

“I didn't see myself playing, and at the moment it's about getting game-time,” said the 28-year-old. “I couldn't contribute to the team and didn't want to just sit around. I would have loved to stay because I have had some good moments there but I want some game time.

”Bishop signed with AmaZayoni until the end of the season and says that he wants to help the club stave off relegation.

Aces won their second League match of the campaign on Wednesday by beating SuperSport United 2-1, and though they are still bottom of the table, they are now three points below second-to-bottom Moroka Swallows.

Bishop believes that if Aces can get back-to-back wins it would shift the pressure back on to Swallows.

The bottom team in the Premiership gets automatically relegated while the side above them plays in the play-off rounds with three other promotion hopefuls from the First Division.

“Joining Aces is a challenge but I'm there to help the team,” Bishop said. “I believe that we can do it. If we go on a good run and put together three wins we will go above Swallows.”
