Uzbekistan Midfielder Azizbek Haydarov says he is keen for a rematch against Australia to avenge the memory of their 6-0 loss.
Uzbekistan midfielder Azizbek Haydarov says he is keen to play Australia soon in order to avenge the memory of the side's 6-0 thrashing in the Asian Cup.

The result came as a shock to the Central Asian nation, and Haydarov still apologised for the side's performance.

"I hope that in other competitions we can play against Australia again and show that the result was just a one-off," he revealed to The-AFC.com.

"I'm sorry for the Uzbek people because we could not achieve our goal of reaching the final and lift the cup. It was very difficult for us after the 6-0 defeat to Australia.

"I'm very sorry for it and I ask the Uzbek fans to stay with us and support us," concluded Haydarov.

Uzbekistan take on South Korea in the third-place final on Friday.
