The Champions League match between Fiorentina and Debrecen has come under scrutiny following betting fraud allegations.
According to a report on SID, the outcome of the Champions League match between Hungarian side Debrecen and Italian outfit Fiorentina from October 20, 2009 was influenced by a betting syndicate.
The match ended in a 4-3 away win for the Viola and six of the seven goals were scored before the interval in what was a rather poor defensive display from both sides.
The Champions League encounter is part of a big investigation that involves a total of 47 matches that are believed to be influenced by Ante S. and Marijo C. The duo reportedly bet a total of €3.5 million on fixed games.
The Europa League games Basel-CSKA Sofia and Aalborg-Slavia Sarajevo are also believed to be fixed, while several matches of 2. Bundesliga side Osnabrueck have come under scrutiny as well.
The attorney general of Bochum has officially opened a case against the betting syndicate on Friday.
