Marcelo Bielsa To Remain As Chile Coach Until After 2011 Copa America

Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa had flown into Santiago earlier today to discuss his future, and will remain in charge of La Roja until the Copa America before reviewing his position again.
Emerging reports are sugegsting that Chile national team coach Marcelo Bielsa will remain in charge of La Roja until the 2011 Copa America.

The Argentine will then evaluate his future going forward towards the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Bielsa flew into Santiago earlier to and met with Chile FA president Sergio Jaude to negotiate his continuity in the position. All parties agreed that the 55-year-old will stay to take the side through to the 2011 Copa America in Argentina before sitting and and discussing his future, according to 26noticias.com.ar.

'El Loco' had announced his intention to resign in November 2010 after the accession of Jorge Segovia to the presidency, with whom the coach stated he had deep philosophical and practical differences which would make a working relationship impossible.

Segovia however was then excluded from the top job after details were made public regarding conflicts of interest in his business dealings; and although Jadue is an associate of Segovia he has made it clear that he is willing to compromise in order to keep the immensely popular trainer in Chile.

The former Espanyol and Argentine coach led the Reds to their first World Cup appearance since 1998, and progressed to the Round of 16, losing 3-0 to Brazil.
