Nesta has been ruled out for an initial three weeks due to having dislocated his shoulder against Cesena.
Alessandro Nesta has been told by doctors he will need to refrain from all physical activities for three weeks after dislocating his shoulder during Milan's 2-0 win against Cesena.
The veteran defender was taken to hospital yesterday evening for an x-ray, with fears there might be ligament damage or even a fracture, but the best news they received was that the centre-back's shoulder had popped out without further complications.
Football Italia have reported that Nesta has been told to rest the injury for three weeks in order to aid the healing process, which was first feared would keep him out for up to three months rather than weeks.
The injury will cast into doubt his participation in the first leg of Milan's Champions League tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
Along with Nesta, Rossoneri midfielder Gennaro Gattuso was also injured before the match. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on hand for the league leaders, scoring in the last minute of the game to seal the three points after Maximiliano Pellegrino's first half own goal.
