Juan Sebastian Veron heaps praise on new coach Eduardo Berizzo.
Estudiantes captain Juan Sebastian Veron had warm words for his new coach Eduardo Berizzo, praising the coaching style that 'Toto' was trying to introduce and comparing him with Diego Simeone and Marcelo Bielsa.

Berizzo was confirmed as Alejandro Sabella's replacement in La Plata at the start of this week, and has taken just three days of training as he begins his first post as head coach. Veron however likes what he sees, and had no qualms in comparing the new trainer to former Estudiantes championship winner Simeone.

"To some extent Berizzo's systems are similar to el Cholo's, they are very familiar to us," Veron told 90 Minutos de Futbol on Thursday.

Veron went on to see the similarities with 'El Loco' Bielsa, for whom the Pincha trainer acted as assistant for three years with Chile.

"I also recognise them because he has brought the systems from having played and worked with Bielsa. I believe there is definitely a meeting point there."

Despite the upheavals of pre-season the veteran midfielder was characteristically confident, affirming that Estudiantes' goal was to stay as "protagonists" for the upcoming Clausura, which the Pincha kick off this Friday against Newell's Old Boys.

Veron also admitted that he did have some say in the internal running of the club and technical staff, but he only acted for the good of the La Plata outfit.

"If you want to be the best, you have to get involved. Except for firing coaches and saying who stays or goes, in Estudiantes I try to get involved in every side, but always for the good of the institution," revealed the player, who was accused in some parts of being instrumental in the departure of Sabella.
