Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has praised Schalke and forward Raul for his goal in their Champions League encounter.

Soldado opened the scoring between the two sides, but the 33-year-old equalised proceedings to ensure the tie is still open.

"We knew they [Schalke] were dangerous and had top-quality players," the Los Che hitman told Eurosport post-match. "Someone like Raul knows exactly what he is doing at every moment of the match.

"We expected a better result, but we are an ambitious club and wanted to do much better."
