Chelsea Could Sign Wolfsburg Defender Simon Kjaer By Monday

Chelsea are close to sealing a deal for Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer, and the transfer could be finalised on Monday - according to Talksport.

The Danish international has been in the sights of Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian was manager of AC Milan and the player was at fellow Italian side Palermo.

Chelsea have been anxious to bolster their defence since the departure of Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid last summer was compounded by persistent injuries to both regular first-team centre-backs John Terry and Alex.

The 21-year-old seems keen on a proposed switch to Stamford Bridge in a deal that is believed to be worth around £12.5 million.
