Slovenia international Tim Matavz has attracted the interest of Lazio among others.
Slovenia international Tim Matavz could be on his way out of Eredivisie side Groningen in the winter transfer window as Serie A side Lazio have shown an interest in signing the striker, according to a report in Corriere dello Sport.
The Biancocelesti have been in the market for attacking reinforcements for quite a while now and head coach Edoardo Reja supposedly sees the 22-year-old Matavz as the perfect addition to his squad.
Matavz started his professional career with ND Gorica and moved to Groningen in the summer of 2007. After a difficult start to life at his new club, the prolific striker has developed into a key player in the past two seasons. He has so far scored 26 goals in 71 Eredivisie appearances.
The young attacker's good performances haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere and aside from Lazio, clubs such as Napoli, Fiorentina, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburg and Wolfsburg are all keeping tabs on Matavz.
The striker has an ongoing contract with Groningen and an offer in the region of €6 million could be needed to lure Matavz away from his current club.
