The American looks set for a move to England.
Jermaine Jones looks to have been granted his wish to leave Schalke, and in fact, seems to be leaving Germany altogether.
According to Bild, the midfielder, who made his national team debut with the USA squad just last year, has been picked up by Blackburn Rovers in a loan deal that could be made permanent by the end of the season.
The 29-year-old player began his professional career with Eintracht Frankfurt, then had a short stint with Bayer Leverkusen before establishing himself at Schalke.
The veteran has played his entire career in the Bundesliga, and played for Germany's youth national teams, as well as in friendlies for the senior squad. However, none of these matches cap-tied him from his USA eligibility, so he was able to petition FIFA for an opportunity to play for the American squad.
Jones notched an assist on a Jozy Altidore goal in his first appearance for the USA national team.
