Villarreal defender Joan Capdevila admits he was offered terms by other clubs, but chose to remain at El Madrigal.
Villarreal full-back Joan Capdevila has confessed that he was offered terms by other clubs, but that he always saw himself finishing his career at El Madrigal.
The World Cup-winning defender was courted by the likes of Juventus, with his previous deal with the Yellow Submarine set to expire in the summer.
But earlier last week the club confirmed that the 32-year-old had committed himself to a two-year extension, and discussing his decision with the media yesterday, he admitted he never thought of playing anywhere else.
“Villarreal are very ambitious. Many players would like to be part of this project, and to sign was very important to me. My dream was to stay here and although there were options to get out of Spain, I wanted to stay.
“It gives me peace of mind to continue and now I want these two years to be similar, and, if possible, win a title here at Villarreal. We must forget about our exit from the cup, there are two competitions in which we are still fighting, but we know that the second half of the league will not be easy.”
