Liverpool could reach a compromise £7 million deal to sign Charlie Adam from Blackpool, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Scotland international has been linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road after impressing in his first season in the top flight, with the Reds, Aston Villa and Birmingham City all interested.
However, Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has described offers, which have reportedly been as high as £4.5m, received so far for his captain as “derisory”.
And despite Holloway claiming interested parties need to “put a one in front” of any offers for the player, a deal could now reportedly be struck with Liverpool.
Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has confirmed that the club have already received a below-par offer from the Reds.
"We received a verbal bid of £4m [from Liverpool] for Charlie on Friday, but it doesn't change the situation," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"He's still a player who is under contract with Blackpool and Liverpool's offer only matches previous offers we have recently turned down from Aston Villa."
Holloway added: "When I got Charlie he was a very frustrated young man and now he is looking a fantastic footballer.
"You saw [against Sunderland] he was totally focused on playing as well as he can. He is doing himself, his family and our club proud.
"He wins headers, he sets the tempo of our play and has an unbelievable range of passing.
"Charlie by the end of the season is going to be one hell of a player. He is still improving."
