Quique Sanchez Flores Delighted Atletico Madrid Sent A Strong Message Against Mallorca

Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores believes his side has sent a strong message to the fans after their 3-0 win over Mallorca.
Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores is pleased the Rojiblancos were able to defeat Mallorca 3-0 and send a positive message to the fans after a string of poor performances.

The tactician also praised new Brazilian signing Eijah for his strong debut match.

"We sent a strong message to our fans," Sanchez Flores told AS after the match. "We knew the importance of this match after our game against Real Madrid [in the Copa del Rey].

"We knew what our opponent was capable of, and tried to prepare ourselves well despite having a day less than Mallorca to do so.

"Elijah will take his time to adapt to the side and his team-mates, as it is not easy to play in the best league in the world."

The boss also believes his team may not be the best side in La Liga, but can improve during the second half of the season.

"We feel we are four or five points behind the pacesetters, and we would be happy with that margin," he continued. "We know we are not the best, but we will move forward as we did last year.

"Our aim will now be to go out and try to score an early goal. We know this will be extremely tough, but there is a strong belief from the players and the fans," he concluded.
