Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone has reiterated the importance of Reto Ziegler at the club.
Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone has issued a hands-off warning for Blucerchiati defender Reto Ziegler.

The Swiss left back, who is known for his attacking ability as well, had been attracting the interest of Milan and Lazio with the transfer window coming to a close on Monday.

Rumours had spread that Ziegler was ready to reject Mian's approach in order to move to the Italian capital but Garrone has ended speculation by stating Ziegler will remain with Samp.

Lazio were hopeful of taking advantage of Ziegler wanting first-team football and were willing to stitch together a deal with cash and or players, even if they had have to wait to the summer, according to a report in the Corriere dello Sport.

"There are a lot of rumours, but Ziegler is very important for Sampdoria, so we have decided to keep him. Our task is to build a battle-worthy team. The decision is made - Ziegler with remain a Sampdoria player," Garrone was quoted as saying by Lalaziosiamonoi.it.
