Villarreal striker Nilmar is almost ready to return to action after overcoming knee problems sooner than expected.
Villarreal striker Nilmar has spoken of how well his body has reacted to the recent knee surgery he underwent, and he is confident of making a return to action very soon.

The Brazilian had been in prolific form for the Yellow Submarines prior to the operation at the turn of the year which was expected to keep him out of action for two months or more.

However, the 26-year-old told the media today that he is progressing well, and he reckons he could be back in action sooner rather than later.

He remarked: “I feel much better. I had the surgery only 25 days ago, and it is best to go slowly. Tomorrow I will train a little more with the team, I have not done a thorough training session yet, and I do not want to rush.

“To be available to the coach next weekend is ambitious because I need to work a little hard, but I’m sure next week I can help more.”

The former Lyon attacker also assessed why he felt going under the knife was essential, even during such as successful spell in front of goal.

He added: “It was very risky to continue playing like I was doing because I was not 100%. Now I feel good to complete the season. The discomfort has prevented me from playing in recent games, and now I hope to perform better, and have to return a mini pre-season to return with force.”
