Wayne Rooney’s Brother To Play Alongside Thierry Henry For New York Red Bulls

John Rooney, the brother of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, will team-up with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at New York Red Bulls after the midfielder was selected in the MLS off-season draft.

The former Macclesfield midfielder was the 25th pick, and one of two Englishman to arrive at the club, along with former Notts County striker Luke Rodgers,, where he worked with current Red Bulls coach Hans Backe in 2009.

Rooney trained with the Seattle Sounders last season, in a bid to secure a contract with the MLS, but the 20-year-old was unable to secure a deal, with the club opting not to retain the midfielder.

But now he heads to the Red Bulls, where he will also feature alongside ex-Barcelona man Rafael Marquez, while former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel is in talks with LA Galaxy over a proposed move, where he join David Beckham and Landon Donovan.
