Lecce coach Gigi De Canio feels his team are in a better position to test Milan now than they were earlier in the campaign.
Lecce coach Gigi De Canio is confident his team will avoid a defeat to Milan similar to the thrashing his team suffered on the opening day of the season.
The Giallorossi succumbed to a double from Alexandre Pato, and further efforts from Thiago Silva and Filippo Inzaghi helped Massimiliano Allegri’s team to an emphatic start to the campaign.
Speaking to the media before the sides meet again tonight at the Stadio Via del Mare, De Canio reckoned his side are better equipped now to give the Rossoneri a more difficult contest.
He stated: “There has been some changes to our squad since that day. Back then we had to pay a certain price because it was the first game, many our players had never played in Serie A before and needed time to adapt.
“It is also true that Milan have changed, as they are now more solid and can combine substance with quality. We must try to limit our errors as much as possible and hope to put them under pressure.
De Canio also added however that his side fear the threat of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, saying: “Milan are difficult to beat, but it is not impossible. However, in terms of pure finishing power, I think that Ibrahimovic is the most important player in Serie A.”
