Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes says Cesc Fabregas will never join Real Madrid.
Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has claimed that Arsenal superstar and former Blaugrana youth team player Cesc Fabregas would never join Real Madrid.

There's been speculation in the press recently linking the Blancos with a sensational swoop for Fabregas but Valdes remains sceptical.

"I cannot imagine Cesc wearing the white shirt," he said, according to ESPNsoccernet. "As you know, I believe his wish is to return home, although that is not up to me.

"He knows our system perfectly and he would fit in well here."

The 29-year-old shot stopper went on to reveal that the squad has reacted positively to the news that coach Pep Guardiola will pen a new deal with Barca later this month.

Guardiola has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Spanish giants, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2011-12 season, with an official announcement expected to be made on February 22.

"We have always had faith in the coach," Valdes confessed. "No one had ever doubted the relationship between the coach and Barcelona would end.

"This is great news for everyone involved because Guardiola is one of the success stories at this club," he concluded.
