Defender Carles Puyol Ruled Out Of Barcelona Squad To Face Arsenal

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has been left out of tomorrow evening’s Champions League tie with Arsenal after failing to recover in time from his bout of tendonitis.

The influential captain has been struggling with the problem for the past few weeks, and sat out Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sporting in order to give him every chance of playing some part in the match.

However, the 32-year-old has not recovered in time, and is missing from the 18-man list for the match.

Also missing is winger Jeffren, who remains at least a week away from returning to training, but included in Pep Guardiola's list is emerging talent Thiago.
