Racing owner Ali Syed wants to make the club Spain's third force behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Racing owner Ali Syed has issued his intention to make the club the third force in Spanish football, after their dramatic 3-2 win over Sevilla on Saturday evening.

The new supremo was jubilant after Manuel Arana’s injury time goal helped the 10-man Verdiblancos to a win in coach Marcelino’s first game back in charge of the club he left in 2009.

Syed spoke to AS after the triumph and stated: “When everyone talks about the league, the first thing that comes to mind are Barcelona and Real Madrid. As I said before, I will give everything I can to help Racing grow in the world of football.

“I am sure there is room for a third team. There are many possibilities for Racing to be competitive with these two teams. When we have more time in the summer we will definitely bring more talent, but that does not necessarily mean that that the team will do well.

“I want to grow personally in this club, so that I can stay in the position for a long time. I have set a figure for transfers, but as I said before I will not be too aggressive. I want to bring talent, but how much, I will let the experts decide.”
