Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri Calms Scudetto Talk Despite Convincing Roma Win

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri stopped short of linking his side with a bid for the Scudetto, but admitted that the 2-0 win over Roma represents a huge step forward for the club.

Two goals from lethal hitman Edinson Cavani put the Giallorossi to the sword and ensured that the Partenopei remain within three points of league leaders Milan.

Speaking to the media after the match, Mazzarri remarked: “We certainly couldn’t know beforehand that we would’ve put in such a performance.

“I must compliment the players, as this was a big step forward in quality, in every respect. There was a great team spirit, everyone helped each other and this is very pleasing.

“We are still not talking about a Scudetto, though the team is growing and came away from Roma with an important win.”
