Real Sociedad striker Joseba Llorente will miss the rest of the season after suffering a back injury, the Spanish club confirmed on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old underwent medical tests that confirmed he had a herniated disc that will keep him out of action for at least four months.

The former Villarreal hitman has five goals this season in 18 appearances as the Erreala sit in mid-table with 25 points at the moment.

The club are likely to seek out a reinforcement in attack before the end of the winter transfer window as another one of their top strikers, Diego Ifran, has also had his fair share of injury problems.
