Roma Midfielder Simone Perrotta: The Club Are Suffering From Serious Problems

Roma's Simone Perrotta has bemoaned the club's off-field problems after defeat to Napoli.
Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta has claimed that the club are currently suffering from "serious problems" after their 2-0 defeat to Napoli on Saturday evening.

A clinical double from Edinson Cavani heaped misery on the capital club, who lose ground on those chasing down the Champions League positions in Serie A.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Perrotta confessed that the underlying financial issues at the club are affecting performances on the pitch.

He remarked: “Napoli deserved to win. As you can see, our enthusiasm is not at its best. I think you all know the problems. We are in a situation that has been dragging on for some time.

“The takeover talks aren’t the problem, although I cannot deny that in some situations, especially difficult ones like this, it would help to have the club behind us. I don’t want to explain what type of problems they are. I can say that not having won the Scudetto last season has taken something away from us in terms of enthusiasm.

“This defeat has left behind any talk of first place. Now our objective is to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League.”
